Benefits of the Update

We’ve been hard at work over the past 9 months, improving Kickserv for you. Here are some of the key features we’re most excited about.


Most service companies perform a fairly specialized set of jobs. Our services list allows you to quickly choose which service you’ll be doing, without having to type the same thing every time.

Automated Statuses

Our statuses have undergone a huge overhaul so that you no longer have to worry about many of the status updates. Your job will flow seamlessly from a New Opportunity to a Paid Invoice with much less manual work.

Better Scheduling

A lot of jobs take more than one appointment. With our new scheduling, you can add as many events to a job as you need. Assign multiple technicians to a job, and drag-and-drop on our resource calendar.

Improved Calendar

Our standard calendar is better than ever. Now, you can create jobs, opps, reminders, and even schedule time off for employees directly from the calendar. And more detailed job information is just one click away.

Resource Week

One of our most requested features, the resource week view adds an extra layer of usability to our resource calendar. Now you can view your technicians’ availability for the entire week at once.

QuickBooks Harmony Support

If you’ve been wanting to upgrade your QuickBooks Online, now’s your chance. The new Kickserv has been optimized to work with Intuit’s latest version of QuickBooks Online. QuickBooks Desktop will continue to run in the same way.

What will be changing?

The majority of your Kickserv workflow will stay the same. But there will be some changes to allow us to improve your experience.

  • Job names are being removed. On new jobs, services (old job types) will take their place. On existing jobs, you’ll see the job name at the beginning of the job description.
  • Job statuses are being removed in order to utilize automated statuses. We’ll remove your current statuses and tag your jobs with them. Then, we’ll apply the appropriate automated statuses. You can still continue to use your customized statuses by adding them as tags to the job.
  • Job schedules will be migrated by creating events for each job, using the previous scheduled date.
  • Tasks are being removed and converted to events. Old task types will be added to the new event notes, and the event’s job will be tagged with the old task type, as well.
  • QuickBooks Desktop users will need to install a new QWC file to sync with the new version of Kickserv. QuickBooks Online users will be taken through a short process to authorize their new Kickserv account.
  • Reports Some custom reports (those using Customer Type or Status) will no longer work on the newest version of Kickserv. Some of our built in reports are being re-done using our new database structure and will be released in the coming weeks, such as our productivity report.

What do I need to do to prepare my account for the update?

If you don’t sync with QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Online, just sit back and relax. We’ll update your account and get you the new login details as soon as it’s done.

For QuickBooks users, you should run a sync to clear your queue of “Ready to Sync” jobs right before we update your account. We’ll let you know when is a good time. After the update, you’ll have to reconnect your Kickserv account to QuickBooks.

For QuickBooks Desktop users, you’ll be reinstalling your QWC file. It’s a short process and we’ll show you how it’s done. For QuickBooks Online users, you’ll have to authorize your Kickserv account to access QuickBooks. This is done from within Kickserv and is very simple. Again, we’ll walk you through it. The first group of users were updated earlier this month and we are still working out the kinks on the update but will be inviting our next group very soon.
