Say hello to sidebar navigation

You’ll soon see a big improvement to Kickserv: sidebar navigation!

We made the decision to move our navigation to the sidebar for a number of reasons.

Mobile Users

The horizontal navigation at the top was difficult to use on mobile phones and tablets. The side navigation allows you to see all of the menu choices without any trouble and offers a better user experience on these smaller touchscreens.

More Room for your Work

By moving a few key elements, there is now more vertical space to work with in the main content area. And since the menu is expandable and collapsible, you can shrink it down whenever you need more room!

We save a cookie in your browser whenever you change the menu state so it’ll stay set the way you like it.

A Few Extras

Along with moving the main navigation to the sidebar, we’ve made some other great enhancements to the interface.

Enhanced Add Button

When you click the Add New button, you’ll now see this:

Keyboard Shortcuts

We’ve added two keyboard shortcuts right now. By pressing +, you’ll activate the Add screen and pressing s anywhere in the app will activate the search bar at the top.

Improved Interface Consistency

We’ve also taken the opportunity to standardize some of the interface elements throughout the app and in the settings area. Hopefully, you won’t notice a difference, but things should feel a lot more natural throughout Kickserv.

We’ll be pushing the sidebar navigation out to Kickserv accounts in the next day or two.
